L'#11maggio è una data molto particolare per Cassino e tutte le nazioni che hanno vi hanno combattuto durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, ma per la #Polonia lo è ancora di più.
In che modo la città e il suo territorio sono collegati con la nazione polacca?
L'11 maggio 1944 ha inizio la Quarta Battaglia di Cassino, quella definitiva che porterà alla fine della più lunga battaglia della Campagna d'Italia, quando il 18 maggio la bandiera polacca sarà issata a Montecassino.
Desideriamo unirci ai nostri amici polacchi, che quest'anno non potranno essere presenti alle #commemorazioni dei prossimi giorni, condividendo il video della commemorazione al Cimitero Polacco dello scorso anno, in occasione del 75° anniversario della battaglia di Cassino, alla presenza del Presidente della Repubblica Italiana Mattarella, il Presidente della Repubblica di Polonia Duda e l'Ambasciatrice Anna Maria Anders, figlia del Generale #Anders, che guidò le truppe polacche nella battaglia.
Il nostro omaggio a chi ha combattuto per la libertà dell'Europa e del mondo intero, soprattutto in vista del 50° anniversario della morte del Generale Anders il prossimo 12 maggio.
May 11th is a very special day for Cassino and for all the countries whose soldiers fought here during #WWII; but for #Poland this date means even more.
How the City of Cassino and the surrounding areas are connected to Poland?
On May 11th 1944, the 4th Battle of Cassino began, the last one that would lead to the end of the longest battle of the #CampaignofItaly, when in May 18th the Polish flag was raised on #Montecassino.
We wish to join our Polish friends in commemorating this date, as they will not be able to be here for the commemoration ceremonies for the 76th anniversary that will be held in a private form in the next days, due to Covid19. We’d therefore like to share the video of the commemoration ceremony held last year at the Polish Cemetery of Montecassino on the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Cassino, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Italy Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Repulic of Poland Duda and the Polish Ambassador in Italy Anna Maria Anders, the daughter of General Anders, who led the Polish troops during the battle.
It is our tribute to those who fought for the #freedom of Europe and the entire world, while looking forward to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the death of General Anders on next May 12th.
